Actually I’ve already listened to the CDs. They are, as we are used to from HCOC, done with a high level of proficiency. Personally I liked them very much and enjoyed listening to them

ok. once my church gets it, i shall buy it
i still have to buy that 7-CD Coptic Psalmody, but with my expenses on school, i went from 500$ to a mere 30 dollars lol.

As time passes, i realize more and more that the work of protecting and preserving the heritage of our glorious church is extremely challanging. This is where we share a common goal. It surely surpasses any single man or groups capacities. The HCOC shares all our joy and ethusiasm with each one of you today, as we have released a small part of this massive project. I would like to thank all of my most beloved and esteemed brothers in service for their unfailing dedication.

We invite all of you to pray for us and our new serivice.

In a way, we are ALL HCOC members.

Mathitis: Were all in the same situation. Don't worry dude, we can get paul to start a charity on the site to get you a copy. Maybe, you could start with the Vespers praise since it's not that expensive. eh, if things don't get better soon i'll send you my copy. Seriously.

you guys do realize i have a job eh? i dotn want no charity set up here, because it'll be a hassle. i will wait upon my next few paychecks, and then i shall buy it. i dont want anybody to send me stuff for free; i just dont think it is right.

There's an important point that I would like to bring up regarding HCOC recordings.

Quoting from our mission statement:
Our recordings are foremost intended to be references for learning the rites and hymns of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

So whereas our recordings can be used for spiritual listening, we intend them as learning tools.

The recordings embody the research that is done by the HCOC into the accuracy of hymns. The knowledge that Albair imparts on these forums is in fact distilled in our recordings.

We do call on all deacons to listen to the recordings, be convinced of our methodology, and then adapt the way they chant the hymns in their church to those on the recordings. As always, we are open to questions as to why a certain rendition of a hymn made it into our recordings vs. other possibilities. In fact, we welcome these questions.

Also, we call on all deacons to adopt the mentality that drives the HCOC:

Understand the words of the hymn.
Understand the spirituality of the hymn.
Understand the music of the hymn.
Understand the history of the hymn.
Be zealous in protecting the hymn.

The mission of the HCOC is the mission of every deacon: To Protect and Preserve. Join the HCOC in protecting the heritage of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
