Lord Jesus Christ, who ascended to heaven and sent us the Paraclete, have mercy on us.
Agape, everyone,
As most of you are probably aware, members of the HCOC use a section of the online forums to post daily contemplations on hymns that we are in the process of learning. For example, we are currently learning the Wednesday Theotokia and the hymn Fa-nitenh Enhat, and while we learn them, we take time to think about the words of the hymn and contemplate on its significance. Later on, these daily contemplations posted on the forums are compiled into one whole text per hymn, and then put up in the Contemplations section of the Articles and Research category on the copticheritage.org website.
The contemplations are up to serve as a reminder, and perhaps even suggest a way of chanting hymns with understanding and with a true spirit of prayer. By providing these contemplations, the HCOC members intend to direct its readers into further contemplations on the beautiful hymns of our Coptic Orthodox Church on their own. Thus, we are trying our best to pave a way through writing and sharing our own thoughts on the hymns we've learnt and loved.
While working on the hymns we're continuing to learn, some HCOC members are engaging themselves in writing further contemplations on the Annual Sunday Midnight Praise. Since we've learnt the hymns of this Praise before we thought of writing the contemplations (and before the website was even created), we thought that it will be beneficial to write the contemplations at our own pace and then include them in the Contemplations section of the website.
Since the project for the Annual Sunday Midnight Praise contemplations is large, we would like to invite other people everywhere to join in writing contemplations. You are free to write anything you think, feel and understand from a hymn that you will be assigned to contemplate on. The point is to pray the hymn and see what you can learn from it, and then share it in writing with others. The writing must be clear and the thoughts should be concise, though, in order to truly benefit others.
If you feel that you can help - even by taking one hymn only - then contact Ragy Sharkawy, who is responsible for distributing the hymns for the contemplations, by sending him a PM - his username is: Min_Al_Momkin.
Thanks for reading, and keep this service in your prayers
