Hello,

I don't have the lyrics, but I thought I'd share with you a nice version of the song itself:

http://www.coptichymns.net/modules.php? ... her_of_God

It's under Spiritual Songs > Arabic Songs > Songs for Saint Mary > Chorus of the Mother of God.

Enjoy,
ps

I'm sorry to interrupt, but I didn't think this deserved a new topic. I am looking for the arabic hymn "aweeny ya Yassoua aweeny" (strengthen me Lord, strengthen me). I have searched the internet far and wide to no avail. My arabic illiteracy is the problem.

It's a favorite arabic hymn and is in an arabic hymn book at my home church. The chorus goes "Aweeny ya Yassou aweeny / Khodny men eedy wadeeny... Ana dakhel Cena3an (Canaan), Ana dakhel Cena3an".
A link, file, anything would be great. God bless.

Dear GJI,

Is the hymn you describe what PaulS is referring to?

I know a hymn with the name you describe (Ya M.R.Y.M) that is said in Kiahk only. It is different (in words and tune) to the link PaulS has given. The words for it are found in the Old Arabic/Coptic Kiahk Psalmody (The big thick black book). The book was published in Beni Sweif, Egypt, and has the photo of Anba St Mary at the front, followed by the photo of Bishop Mettaous, Abbot of El-Sorian Monastery, on the next page. The hymn text is found toward the end of the book (around page 500 or 600, I think).

I have not come across an English translation anywhere, neither in text nor in audio. I have an audio tape with the Arabic hymn, by Adel Maher, as part of his Kiahk series of tapes. I don't know where you can purchase the tape from.

Hello all,

Some good news to share with you all with regards to this song. Some of the HCOC members were just eager to translate the song from Arabic, and record it for streaming and downloading. The song is now complete, and God willing, should be uploaded on the Spiritual Song section of copticheritage.org very soon (maybe in hours if we're lucky Smile )

We hope this wonderful song of praise will be a blessing and joy for many, as it was to us.

God bless,
