hello everyone. I think that we should start putting together some information for people entering into college next year starting from now (if you think about it people are starting to be accepted to colleges this month so I think it would be beneficial to get some information posted). I have gotten some PM's regarding the schools here in Tallahassee and regarding the church. I think that we should post some contact numbers here including some youth numbers in case someone has some questions. Like i said I've already gotten some questions about the schools and church here in Tallahassee.

Having said that, I think if you are interested in coming to Tallahassee next year, dont hesitate to PM me or anyone else on this site (MSoliman; marysoliman) or email myself: andrewassad@gmail.com if you have any questions. We would love to have you come and visit Tallahassee and be with us. We can make arrangements for you, if you are a girl with one of the girl youth here or if you are a boy with a boy youth here.

I am sure Mark will post more information since Mark is the man with all the information here. Thanks.

andrew

Here is the deal.

MANAGE YOUR TIME!

DO ALL YOUR READINGS!

DON'T PROCRASTINATE!

DO ALL YOUR WORK!

WORK ON ASSIGNMENTS EARLY AND SEE THE TEACHER FOR IMPROVEMENTS! (That way, he/she will see that you are working, and they will gladly help you out!)

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

COLLEGE IS A TIME TO GET GOOD AND LONG-LASTING FRIENDSHIPS!

I tel lyou all of this because I have been through both the Good side of College and the Bad side of it (marks wise). What I tell you is no bluff. Take my free experience.

God bless,
Matt Smile

LOL this is the "ideal" way of getting through college. It gets tough to do it, but if you can then enta walad meya meya Wink
It's easier said than done but it's doable...I think.

Definetly get involved in Student activities on campus. But of course join good clubs that will help you...the Coptic club if there is one. There are many universities out there now with COSA (Coptic Orthodox Student Association).

Enjoy university while you can (of course in a good way)...before you know it..it's over and you're in the "real world". It's not as bad as some people make it seem. If you divide your time right...it makes it so much fun...time for Church and God...time to study and do hwk...time to hang out with friends...time to go on the CMN forums...and STICK to the times.

God bless

Mikey, it's hard at first, but once it is applied ,it's a joke. College is such a joke with properly managed time, after learning the hard way.

And thanks for backing up the student life order I gave them freshmen lol.

God bless,
Le Mathitis Smile

Exactly...so #1 thing in college is to MANAGE YOUR TIME!! Everything else will come after that..cuz you'll find that you have time to do other things.

I was so involved in the Student Associations at University of Buffalo. You get so many connections and great deals. For example, Bill Cosby came as a guest speaker to one of the events...I got free front row tickets..it was awesome! It made university so much fun and interesting.

I agree with you and Mathitis. I am a sophmore in College of Pharmacy at FAMU in Tallahassee so I know exactly what you both mean. I've done all this to the point that I have enough credits to be a Junior. Try to get involved in the school, join a club (do your research about the club before you get involved in it, ask around about it, talk to the president of the club) and then get out there. Get involved in Church, ask what you can do as a servant, whether that's being a Sunday School Servant for any age, cleaning the Church, or whatever other service the Church may need, it really is a blessing.

Anyway, I will talk to Mark soon so we can post some information for those people interested in coming to Tallahassee to attend either FSU or FAMU.

Fall 2006, huh? good luck!! Tallahassee is very cozy and welcoming!! The FAMU website doesn't work sometimes. Just give it time and it should come back. but if you have any questions, i think there are enough FAMU students on this website to answer any inquiries!! Smile God bless

Hey Elaria, this is bishoy, a tally native. Anyways just to answer your quesion, these are the requirements off of the top of my head needed to enter the program. (famu peoples please add anything missing)
Freshman year
Chem I & II with labs
Precal, Calc I
6 hrs electives
Sociology
(african american history is req if you are starting as a freshman at FAMU)
English I &II

Second year
Org I& II with labs
Bio I&II with labs
college Phyiscs I&II (algebra based) with labs
Microcomputers

This is what i can remember at the moment. Probably the most important advice about admissions that i can give you is to come to Famu as a freshmen and not as a 3rd transfer into the program. There have been issues with transfer students getting in. There have been people with a 3.9 gpa and a PCAT score of a 95 that have been denied admissions. But if you start at Famu as a freshmen, youre practically guaranteed acceptance with a 2.5 GPA. Anyways if you need any help, all of us would be more than happy to offer it. Pray for us... Smile

Hi!! i actually have a sheet of the classes right in front of me that are required:

intro to pharmacy
general chemisrty 1, 2, and their labs
English 1 and 2
Precalculus and Calc
Afro American history
intro to microcomputers
history of pharmacy
intro to sociology
biology 1, 2, and their labs
medical terminology
humanities 1 and 2
college physics 1, 2, and their labs
organic 1, 2 and their labs
emergency medical care
3 credits of electives
(forum)

which gives us a grand total of 18+18+16+16 credits which = 36+32= 68 credits

and i think that you also have a good chance of getting in third year if you do your prepharmacy at a community college, NOT a university.... someone please correct me if i'm wrong... but i know that the university has to accept a certain number of students from a community college

hope this helped

God bless
