hey yall,
What's 'Khristos Anesti, Aleethos Anesti' in Coptic?
i know that this phrase: 'Khristos Anesti, Aleethos Anesti' is in Greek.........
how do u say it in Coptic?
and why does everyone have to say it in Greek for?
for a change im gonna try to teach it to everyone in coptic....but i dont know what it is....so if anyone wants to tell me.....ppplllleeeaaassseee ddooo

anyone have any veiw points or anything they would like to say about my question....Why do we say it in Greek ?? why not Coptic ? ...since we are Coptic Egyptians!

Greek was the common language in alexandria and all over the world. U can also notice that a lot of parts in our liturgy (especially deacon responses) are in Greek. since Alexandria was the center of knowledge, many people used 2 go there and the common language used among those who were educated was Greek. So when they attended liturgies, they did not know what part they were at ,hence, most of the deacon responses (pray for our high priest... pray for the safety of the world) and so on. So 2 answer ur question, Greek was the more common language then, and so that was the main saying which was preserved, however i personally say it in coptic to my coptic friends and greek to my greek friends
Btw both languages are amazing, they are mixed in the liturgy, the flow and the sound is GREAT!

i personally say it in 6th century jamaican and i try to convince people in my church to say it as well. i even wrote this really cool fraction for Abouna to say during the Eucharist. But every year, I get deferred to the Theological Examination Committee.. somehow they don't like the font I'm using.. it's not Coptic enough.

Sotirmou, why don't you set up a Jamaican Orthodox Church and give your Arawak to them? Oh, wait, the people there aren't Arawaks anymore.
