Comunion is the holiest part of the Divine Liturgy.

Does taking communion and still being in sin have an effect on the inner self? I lnow many people that have never confessed in their entire life. If anyone knows anthing about this, just post a reply.

Hello Mary,

We SHOULD and HAVE to confess our sins to a priest...no doubt... The way to have communion and still make yourself not liable for blood is that you have to repent your sins and have then intentions of confessing them to a priest.

hello,
i would like to add that you should never say no to yourself about communion even if u havent had confession unless you were told by the priest that ur not allowed to have communion.
i think and im sure that is right.

St. Paul in 1st Corinthians addressing this exact topic. He states, "Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgement to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves we would not be judged." 1 Cor. 11:27-31.

Obviously none of us are ever worthy to partake of the Eucharist, but if we make sure to repent and confess regularly and truly attend the liturgy then the Lord will have mercy on us and allow us to approach Him as he allowed many sinner before us.

Mikhail90 I agree that our priest can tell us not to partake of the communion at certain times. But also, we should approach and tell the priest, before communion if for example we are going to confess next week or we missed the Gospel reading, or haven't started fasting, etc. But if I know that I have not prepared or have willfully not confessed within a long time what St. Paul is saying is to me. Pray for me.

ok so taking communion without confession is a sin.. how about if you don't want communion in the first place, but you're forced to take it?

Well, if your forced to take It then i reckon zat is wrong... because your forced that clearly means that you do not believe it is the Body and Blood of Christ... because your only going to take comunion by force...

BTW... Who is the world would Force you to take Communion?
