since i am a frequent alter server ( thank god ) i want to do everything correctly . and stick to tradition .

1 . - when handing the SHOORIA to abnouna , do we need to have a viel under our hands inbetween the bottom of the shooria and the palm of our hand ? is there a special way to give the shooria to abouna ?

2 ... when the deacon who says the confession is with abouna and checking to see at the end of communion to see if there are any " CRUMBS " left in the gold plate ... after abouna cleans it with the supervision of the deacon , ( and god ) .. the priest shows the deacon the plate ,
there is a special response for the deacon to say to abouna after he has seen the plate is free from any leftover bread .
what is this response ?

Hey Tony,

1. No, the veil is to prevent your hand from getting burnt. If we needed the veil, then I don't think we should be even allowed to touch and carry the shoria; we'd have to have a veil to carry it around.

2. The response is "Blessed be the Name of the Cross" as you do the sign of the cross.

A good book you should read is called "Understanding the Liturgy" by Fr. Athanasius Iskander. Especially the end of that book, it talks about the deacon's roles and services in the liturgy.

Hey Tony and Matt,

1. Just like Matt said, it's just to prevent the deacon's hands from being burned.

2. You can also say it in Coptic by saying, "<ere Pictauroc" Meaning, "Hail to the Cross" not, "Blessed be the Name of the Cross" (like what Matt said).

Sorry I just had to mention that abouna does not clean the paten and the chalice but rather washes them. If they contain the Body and Blood of Christ, they cannot be dirty and hence cannot be cleanned! He only washes them to make sure that nothing remains.

First i agree with geomekhaiel and Mathitis in everyithng EXCEPT:
first to answere tony's quesion, the response is "<ere Pi`ctavros", that is said to abouna when a deacon knows that the plate is empty and now abouna can start washing it.

but the other response, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord", is only said when aouna is moving the Plate of the altar for the 1st time to go give commionion to the men and the women.
