Hello,
I am pleased to announce that coptichymns.net is in the process of undergoing its most significant overhaul ever. We are moving entirely to a new platform that will allow us to implement our vision, which has advanced Coptic hymnology on the Internet by leaps and bounds in the past year.
We adopted the PHP-Nuke/Postnuke codebase when Coptic hymns sites were still in infancy. At that time, the Nuke base provided unprecedented community features and innovation to Coptic congregations worldwide. Since our adoption of this base, several Coptic sites have followed us. Unfortunately, every codebase has its limit, a point at which it no longer offers the flexibility needed to continue development of a large, demanding userbase.
For this reason, we have decided to do our own thing... to program according to our own needs. This is what the new coptichymns.net is all about.
The project does not have a firm release date, but I can promise its release in 2006, hopefully before the blessed Coptic month of Kiahk. Because of the massive amount of content on this site--think of all the forums, topics, articles, hymns, photos, etc.--the project will require a significant investment of time from our admins and volunteers.
Once the site it complete, we will resume our building of the largest meaningful collection of Coptic hymns in the world. In my possession alone are over 160 GB of hymn renditions never published in any church or on the Internet before.
As I share this good news with you, I ask for your patience as we move things over and test the new site. We are officially not supporting any potential problems on the current site (such as the Photo Gallery problems), because everything will be obsolete and reborn in a short time.
If you would like to volunteer, please send me a PM with your name, e-mail address, and expected donation of time.
God bless you all,
PaulS
