† Agape,

I wish everyone a blessed New Year with Our Lord Jesus. May the Lord dwell in your hearts and fill them with peace and love. I thought to share this poem with everyone, as a new start with our Lord.

A New Start

In the beginning God created man who fell into sin,
because of his arrogance and pride.
Out of Eden we were placed in barren land,
and from our laboured life, in anguish we cried.

Generation after generation,
sin was passed on.
Carried in our blood, throughout the nation,
from night to dawn.

We are precious in God’s eyes and in His heart,
the Lord saw our suffering, and had compassion on the human race.
Before there was a beginning, right from the start,
God knew our Salvation, is through His Devine Grace.

The Lord came to our corrupted earth,
and died on the cross to save us from death.
Through the shed of His blood, we were granted new birth,
and gave us a new life through His breath.

Year after year our paths become black,
filled with sins, greed and hate.
And tonight there is no turning back,
it’s the time for us to reflect and contemplate.

Let us pause for a second to take some time,
and explore our hearts and minds.
To separate between our achievements and crimes,
and think of the heavenly bind.

The true bind of love,
starting from confession and followed by communion.
The true worthy relationship from heaven above,
with the Holy Trinity we attain union.

We received many blessings and memories to treasure,
yet there was some unforgettable sorrow.
However, Christ’s love has no measure,
He is willing to begin a new life with you tomorrow.

Close your eyes and listen to your heart,
the Lord is knocking on your door.
Invite Him in to prepare a new start,
and He will take you to the safe shore.
God is the Alpha, the Omega, the beginning and end,
rely on our Father the Almighty One.
This year give Jesus your heart to mend,
through Christ, all of our battles are won.

Briefly...

The number "7" has a lot of significance in the Hebrew language (in Hebrew, the word is "sheba" or "sheva") - it also means "covenant" or "oath". The shabbath (or sabbath) is the 7th day of the week and signifies God's covenant to man and man's covenant to God (i.e., a day of rest and worship).

Seven is present numerous times in the Bible and is considered a symbol of perfection or completion - from the 7 days of creation to the 7 churches to the 7 sacraments to the 7 seals in Revelation.

There is a lot more to say on this subject; I will try to write more later, but hopefully this serves as a good start.

That being said, we pray that every year is a good year in the eyes of the Lord, regardless of the numerology. Smile

I don't buy into that stuff, you can't assume things like that. If that was the case then the last year, 2006, would have been a horrible year because six is an evil number. Last year wasn't evil, it was actually a good year.

We should infer stuff like that because it is not our place to indicate whether or not something is going to be good or bad. We should take things as they come and in what ever form they come in. God speaks through good and through bad.

I think your priest was maybe making a joke and you might have misunderstood him. But in any case, all years are good, in the sense that they are all gifts from God because they allow us to spiritually grow.

I'm not trying to crush your hopes or anything...

The point that I'm trying to get across to you is that God is not like the Easter Bunny or Santa. What I mean by that is that you can't just create your own religion and live by, "if i believe it then it must be true." You have to use logic and reasoning in finding what makes sense and what doesn't.

Btw, I never said that 2007 is going to be a bad year. I said the exact opposite! God blesses every year and there isn't one year that is better than another.

Also, it isn't respectful to call someone a party pooper who is negative and crushes dreams, especially when you have never dealt with me before. This is the first time I have ever noticed you on the forums....

Thank you for your brief explanation.Yes,as you have mentioned seven is present numerous times in the Bible and is considered a symbol of perfection or completion. But my question is why? Why seven? God completed his creation in six days and not in seven days, so why seven? Could there be any divine secret of the number seven

So is it the whole secret about the number seven Question Is it the reason for its repeated mention in the bible as the 7 archangels, the 7 churches, the 7 sacraments, the 7 seals, the 7 heavens, etc. Is it because God rested on the seventh day

There is no secret behind it. 7 is the sign of a covenant. God made a covenant with Abraham that He will make Abraham's sons multiple and make them His own people. God made a covenant with David that one of his sons will sit on David's throne forever. God made a covenant that he will abandon Israel for the sins they committed and sent them to exile. God made a covenant when he allowed the Jews to rebuild the Temple under Nehemiah, etc, etc. That is why St. Matthew makes a point to summerize the geneology of Christ: 14 generations (multiple of seven) are between Abraham to David, 14 from David to the exile, 14 from the exile to Jesus. Matthew 1:17

God made a covenant with the Jews on the year of Jubilee. Every 7 years, the slaves were freed and Israel celebrated a feast with God.

God made a covenant with mankind, which Archangel Gabriel told Daniel the Prophet. 7 times 70 weeks=490 weeks (all multiples of 7) from the rebuilding the Temple to the Coming of the Anointed one.

God made a covenant with mankind, which He revealed to His beloved disciple John in Revelation: 7 churches and 7 signs, leading to the new Jerusalem.

We make a covenant with God to pray 7 times a day, like King David did.

Wherever you find 7, there is usually a covenant made in context somewhere. This doesn't mean that only 7 is favored by God. It is not. There were 12 disciples and 70 disciples, like the 12 branches Moses found in Elim with 70 palm trees; 10 virgins, 10 leapors healed, 10 commandments, 4 pillars of the Solomon's Temple, 6 jars of water changed to wine. 5 loaves and 2 fish, 2 angels in the tomb. 3 in the Trinity. 1 God, etc. There is no correlation with any number for us to wonder why God favors one number over another..

7 is a sign of a covenant. I will also add that God made covenants where 7 is not found, like the Last Supper and the Supper in heaven (Refer to N;wten de for the Apostle's feast).

Let's not overanalyze minor details in the Bible (like many pseudo-scholars do) but let's keep our eyes on the prize in Phillippians 3:14

I do agree that we should keep our eyes on the prize in Phillippians 3:14. On verse 15 of this same chapter it continues "... if in any thing you be otherwises minded, God shall reveal even this unto you." I like this statement very much.

Therefore, I still need more revelation. If 7 is sign of a covenant how could there be other covenants that contradict it as a sign? And the numbers you mentioned such as 70, 10, 4, 6, etc. were never used in the same pattern and frequency as the number 7 is used.

By the way, do you really believe that there is such a thing as "overanalyzing minor detail" in the spiritual world? Every fraction of even the minor detail itself should be meaningful and understood very well at least in such a way that it gives sense to us. So I still query if there be any divine secret of the number seven Question

With all love and respect, I don’t mean to be rude, but can you please take this conversation to some other thread. I thought this would have stopped after the first few replies, but I guess I was wrong. I’m not trying to offend anyone, and I'm sorry if I did, but please try to reflect and contemplate on our blessed new year instead of the number 7 issue.
