Hello Everyone,

I haven't been very active in these forums lately but I really wanted to share some thoughts with you guys.

I recently started reading a book called, "Father Arsany (1893-1973). This book has touched my life in ways that I cannot even begin to explain. I have never in my life been so extremely touched by any text that I have been through reading about this life of this holy and amazing man.

I wish everyone can read about the life of this saintly and righteous man whom always put himself last and always, "bore the burdens of others."

I wanted to see if anyone else has had a chance to read this book (and even the second volume to it). I just started reading it last Saturday and I've already read about half of it (it's over 300 pages). I extremely recommend it to anyone, especially those who aren't too interested to read.....you will become interested very quickly.

Just a quick bio:

Father Arsany was a Russian Hiromonk who was put into a special death camp during the time of WWII while Russia was under the rule of Stalin. He did the most amazing things while being in this camp and, through the book, we are able to learn great spiritual lessons. He led many to Christ through his real, Christian example. He was finally released from the camp in 1958. ....I'll stop here and let people who want read for themselves.

I really can't believe all the ways that Christ has touched my own, personal spiriutal life through this book....words wouldn't be able to do justice to the mercy of God that has been revealed to me through the life of this man..

Simply amazing.....Glory be to God!

George Mekhaiel

I'm glad you brought this book up. We tried to start a book discussion about it awhile back here: http://www.coptichymns.net/PNphpBB2-vie ... -6348.html

I think some of us ended up carrying on the discussion privately over email. I highly recommend the book - it's quite a page-turner and eye-opener into the power of the Lord's love.

Same here Carol! I must have had the the book sitting on my shelf for about 2 years now and I have always wanted to start reading it but never gave it priority. I really wish I would have read it a while back....it's awesome!

this is truly an amazing book Smile one thing that touched me was how Father Arseny managed to comfort others while he was in his own suffering. The only way he was able to experience the joy in sufferings was his connection to God through his ceaseless prayer...i absolutely loved this book Smile
