If you read the old Passion Week books, you will find that the first 2 verses of the hymn are not like Pie Epnevma, it says: "then they say the hymn of Deemas". after the verse ending "Paradesos", it reads: "then they say the Paralex in the same tune as the Paralex of the Pantecost". So, the way we recorded it goes perfectly fine with the description of the hymn in the old books. The first 2 verses has a tune, not just like the beginning of Pie Epnevma.
Another reason is that this hymn was handed down by an old cantor from Tahta call (Wadee3 el Kommos Matta) who passed away in 2001. This cantor learnt it from another cantor from Deshna. So it is handed down by cantors. On the other hand, the other way you mentioned was not handed down by any cantor, just made up, or "metrakkeba" on the tune of Pie Epnevma, because the person recorded it didn't know the tune for the first part, which is the actual hymn.
Add to this that the spiritaul meaning of the music of the hymn goes very well with Good Friday. The first part is mournful, and then the Paralex is Joyous... same as Pek Ethronos, and we all know the meaning of the mixing between the 2 tunes.
As for Agios and Tie Shoory, these were handed down by cantors, so no issues with them. They are a different story.
I hope this answers your question... I also hope that all deacons learn this beautiful hymn and resurrect it again in their churches.
