I think that all Copts should join the new global movement of reducing consumption. It's also a great practice during the Great Lent!

Join the global movement and turn off the lights for one hour this Saturday, March 29, 2008, between 8pm and 9pm, your local time!

Can't do that, got papers to write. Also, knowing how the energy business works - this whole thing won't do anything. The only thing that would work is if something happens that shifts the demand curve for energy, which will cause the energy plants to produce less (thereby using less fuels). A one-hour down-time won't do that. So, eventhough you'll consume less energy, the same amount of fuels will be used.

You would be completely right if this was about one hour of conserving energy. rather it is about creating awareness through this one hour. No one is naive enough to think we can save the world through one hour of down time ....Prayers.

Consuming less is my favorite subject that I chose to bring up to my wife often. I am sure most married men know how it ends up.

Back to the point here, this is a great idea that should stay with us.
