"The epitome of grandeur and magnificence are humility, modesty, and
servility. Humility is not the declaration of the supremacy of excellence over
mediocrity, for that is merely recognition. Neither is it the granting of
priority to figures of authority, for that is common etiquette. Nor is it the
bowing of the young to the aged, for that is mere ethics. Indeed not, but
modesty and humility are the bending of the elder to the younger, and the
stronger to the weaker out of love, respect, and caring brotherhood."

-Father Mikhail Abdelmalek

This is a nice quote. Humility is a disposition that always shows preference to the other. It is also a constant recognition of one's sinfulness and his need for a Savior.

Father Mikhail Abdelmalek is the priest of St. Mary and St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Indianapolis, Indiana. He used to serve at Abu Sefein Church in Alexandria. The quote posted above was taken from an english excerpt from his book "Teach me your knowledge" which unfortunately has not yet been translated fully into English. Hope this helps.
