I was reading a book for children about weddings. I heard that when 2 people are getting married, they put golden robes on them, this is only when it is their first marrige. If it is their second marriage, his first wife died, he will not wear a robe. Does this rule also hold true for someone, who was in a civil marriage and the marriage was annuled. This person was not married in a church, they were married in court. The person was baptized as a adult and the marriage and annulment happened years before they were baptized. Will this person get to wear the robe, when they do eventually meet the right person and want to marry in church?

The simple answer to your questions is Yes they will as the Church does not recognise any marriage in a court alone and thus if a marraige is also annuled by a court this has no bearing on a Church ceremony. As far as the church is concerned the person marrying is marrying for the first time.

Slightly off topic there may be an issue where the Priest decides to omitt certain parts of the ceremony because one of the parties is not a virgin. This rarely happens these days but it obviously proclaims the fact to the whole congregation and the church does not intentionally wish to embarrass people nor proclaim previous acts whether they be in error or otherwise.

This is only done when the situation is publicly known such as one having/has a child, second marriage for one or both, one or both is widowed et c., because otherwise it enters in to the gray area of whether or not it is revealing confidences told in confession.

Whether or no someone has lost their virginity before marriage is no body's business. Unfortunately that happens alot today, in 2008. In fact, it is a growing trend that more and more people who are engaged do not wait till their wedding night. This is because, people today, especially in the USA, are putting off getting married till they are older, compared to 40 years ago, because many people want to get their degrees and have their careers in place before getting married. Also, most people do not want to get married till they meet the right person and this is hard and takes alot of time. Once 2 people marry, there is no turning back. As you know, we do not believe in divorce. 50 percent of all marriages in the USA end in divorce. Marriage is also a big respondsiblity and for people who are ready mature to deal with it. Personally, I am older but waiting for the right man to come along and I am getting my MBA. I want to finish my education before I marry and I will not marry any man unless he is the right one.
