I was actually pretty calm when I wrote that. I have no idea what you are talking about. I didn't shove any statements down your throat. I didn't say you said anything (a courtesy you have not extended to me). I merely stated the implications of your statement.

If you say all birds are black and then I say that means you think a bird can't be yellow, I'm not introducing anything new.

It is still a royal waste of time. I've seen what you've said since you started posting. Whether I think what I see makes sense is another story. I don't think your reply merits an answer, since it doesn't reply to any of my refutations.

As for culture and religion: culture, as usually defined, is something that includes one's religion. This is not to mean that we take other parts of our culture and introduce it into Christianity.

IF MY CULTURE DICTATES THAT I SHAKE SOMEONE'S HAND UPON MEETING HIM/HER, THE SHAKING OF HANDS DOES NOT BECOME A PART OF CHRISTIANITY.

Indeed but Christianity uses culture for expression. Whether it be by not kissing (Coptic tradition) on Covenant Thursday (to denounce Judas' betraying kiss), or the rituals themselves Christianity uses culture to express herself.

Secondly, I never said all birds were black, just as I did not say that the entire human race should use Coptic because Coptic is special to us. I said that we should use Coptic because we are Copts and that is our native identity. Don't post back with nonsense like: "Well, if we follow that logic then we might as well be putting up statues of Osiris on our altars." Be Reasonable. I speak of the heritage that the Church now holds. This identity was preserved by Christ for us.

I never said that blue birds should become black birds, because blackness is the special identity of black birds. Blue birds have their own "blue" identity. I never said that all birds were black, but that black birds should never try to change their "blackness", or try to become blue birds. In a similar way, we are Copts, lets at least aim to keep our heritage and identity as the Syrians do theirs, and the Ethiopians.

God Bless

You took the bird example a little too specifically Smile. I got no problem with Copts keeping their identity (if only you knew how nationalistic I am). But that's just it - nationalism, not religion.

My position is not in anyway nationalistic. If it was you would have seen me speaking more about Coptic Cultural details and praising them, not speaking in principles on behalf of all humanity. If this was nationalism, what I said would only apply to us as Copts. But applies to Syrians, as well as Armenians, as wells as Indians, British, French. Everyone. I am speaking about the principle of keeping our identities. "For there is neither Greek nor Jew, slave nor free, male or female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Indeed all the identities of this world are united in One Church. Therefore we respect all identities and they all have their place in the Church, the One Body of Plurality. In One Church praising One Creator who made us all distinct in our own identities, but equal in value and worth.

God Bless
