+ We thank the Lord, for He has dealt with us mercifully. +
We are happy to announce several changes and fixes to the coptichymns.net web site, which have been completed over the past few days. They are as follows:
New Feature: Consolidated Media
As you may know, coptichymns.net offers its media in several sections. Previously, we had one section for Spiritual Songs, another for Coptic Sermons, another for Live Service Archives, and so forth. Today, we announce the consolidation of all media except for Streaming Coptic Hymns into one section. This move will pave the way for several projects on which we are working now.
Currently, the main benefits for our users are vastly improved search and podcast subscriptions to each folder of media. With respect to improved search, you can now search for "liturgy" and the system will return results containing "liturgy" for all of our media sections, including sermons, presentations, etc. It is also much easier to find sermons, liturgies, and hymns by the same person, since all of the results are now consolidated. Concerning podcasting, each and every folder containing any media now includes an "RSS Podcast" button. If you click this button and subscribe to our feed using whatever feed reader you prefer (i.e., Google Reader, Firefox, Safari, NetNewsWire, etc.), you will automatically receive updates of any new media placed in this folder.
New Feature: Social Bookmarking Sites Integration
What exactly are social bookmaring sites? You may have heard of the most popular ones, such as Digg, del.icio.us, and Newsvine. They essentially allow users to submit content, which other users may then see and act upon.
We've added functionality that allows our visitors to automatically submit any Spiritual Library article to any one of these popular sites. You can see a screenshot of the new toolbar, which appears at the bottom of every article, in this article. We encourage users to submit our content to these sites so that more and more people around the world will benefit from our Orthodox religion.
