Construction for the new church

This morning it was a little hard to get the day started with more than half of our group gone, especially since it was the half that took care of us for a week. Slowly, our morning started off with breakfast and prayers at St. Mark's and St. Bishoy's church.

After the morning prayers we went down the mountain to paint the rafters for the new church. We painted for a couple hours before we were joined by Abouna Shenouda who shared with us the story of his miraculous morning adventure down the mountain. He started his car with the intention of driving down the mountain. Once he started it, it immediately took off down the mountain, dragging him along behind. He let go assuming that his car would be no more as it had fallen over rocks and off a cliff. He ran down the mountain to assess the damage only to find that by the grace of God his car was completely intact with the engine running smoothly, giving us the lesson that the devil tries to interfere with God's work but in the end, with complete trust in God alone, He will prevail.

After spending some time with Abouna, Tasoni and two of their sons (Zacharius and Isaiah) building a book shelf for the church, we departed with a plan to go back tomorrow and finish painting.
